Mr. Muhammad Imran Khan is a career central banker with over 20 years of experience in various departments and roles within the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). He is currently the Additional Director of the Microfinance Division of SBP, where he is responsible for overseeing the policies and regulations related to microfinance banks and the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy. He has also played a pivotal role in guiding the implementation of the Banking on Equality Policy and Digital Financial Inclusion Projects like Asaan Mobile Account, a USSD-based interoperable branchless banking platform that allows for instant account opening.
Prior to his current assignments, Mr. Khan has been associated with Exchange Policy Department of SBP that is primarily responsible for issuance and amendments of foreign exchange laws and regulations related to banks and exchange companies and has played an important role in liberalization of foreign exchange regime in Pakistan. Mr. Khan has also led the successful automation of export and import processes by integrating traders with banks, Customs etc.
